Very early State O Maine wool robe with double breasted button closures and notched lapels, circa 1930s - 1940s vintage.
White piping detail on on pockets and on cuffs.
Left chest patch pocket, patch pockets at each hip.
Original self tie belt with sewn in place stays is attached.
Four button front- two working and two detail.
Buttons are original and appear to be shell- 1- 3/16' diameter and in excellent condition.
Woven wool in the most beautiful shade of cranberry.
Diagonal weave, and heavier than gabardine, very soft.
Welted seams throughout.
Sold through Lewis & Thos. Saltz of Washington; the State O Maine label with size (Medium) is on the inner placket seam.
Fit is straight through the body. This is a Mens robe, but photographed on a female mannequin.
Condition is excellent - I hesitate to use 'flawless' with anything of this age, but I can not find a flaw, a hole, an issue to report.
An absolutely beautiful robe- almost too stellar to not wear out.
Measurements:
19.5' shoulder seam to shoulder seam
46' chest (23' armpit to armpit); fairly straight fit through the body)
